Topdressing An Existing Lawn
Topdressing an existing lawn is a great way to revitalize your soil and reduce the need for fertilizer. Earth Farm’s compost will add nutrients and organic matter to bring the life back to your soil and turn your lawn into a sponge for Charlotte’s drought-prone summers.
- Only topdress your lawn during the growing season. You never want to do too much to your lawn when it is dormant, since the grass needs to be growing in order to recover and thrive.
- Aerate your lawn
- Spreading dry compost blend about ½ inch thick over the existing grass, using a top-dressing machine, fertilizer spreader or with a broom or rake.
- Water the compost blend.
